Tunisian Tourism showing Strong Rebound

By on Saturday, June 23, 2012

It has become almost a tradition that after a major crisis economic players will decrease their prices come what may.

As far as Tunisia is concerned, after the ''Arab spring'' hoteliers have drastically slashed their prices in respond to the severe slump in demand for the destination. Surprisingly, The ''price revolution'' as one might call it, has triggered a massive rise of demand levels.

Despite the scattered but not eliminated strikes in some cities, hotels in major touristic cities - Mahdia, Hammamet, Sousse, Djerba, Gammarth - are almost fully booked. It is worth taking into consideration here the fact that these new prices have attracted a different segment of travelers from what the destination is used to.

All in all, such a situation will have a positive impact on the country's economy. Hoteliers and tourism players could approach the coming years with more confidence. Hence, in my opinion, to snap back tourism businesses need to question their basic structure, their relationships with their environment, and most importantly their human resource vision.

Hopefully, tourist arrivals statistics for 2012 season will be released later this year.
